The Matsui Sakura Cask Single Malt Japanese Whisky is a Tottori single malt from Matsui Shuzo's Kurayoshi distillery in the foothills of Mt. Daisen, matured in sakura cherry-wood casks and cut with the mountain's spring water. That cherry wood is why a faint blossom sweetness rides over malt and a gentle bitter edge. Bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV) for the U.S. Pour it when you want something lighter.
Almond, orange, and melon lead, then baking spice, citrus, and spring blossom stand out on the palate. The mouthfeel is light and creamy. White pepper and vanilla sponge cake close a medium finish.
