Maker's Mark 46 Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is fully matured wheated bourbon from Loretto, finished with ten seared virgin French oak staves in the limestone cellar, then bottled uncut around 110 proof (Maker's publishes a 107–114 band). Soft red winter wheat keeps the mouthfeel round while the seared French oak pushes dark fruit, tobacco, and caramel at barrel strength. Screen-filtered of char only. This is a limited cask-strength bottling of Maker's 46. Give it a slow after-dinner pour.
Dark caramel, cherry, and cinnamon fill the sip, with almond and tobacco behind them. The body is full and coating. Charred oak and a long, dry, warming close stand out on the palate.
