Mister Sam Tribute Whiskey is Drew Mayville's 2021 second release honoring Samuel Bronfman, Seagram's first master blender. Mayville — last blender in that Seagram line — pulled Sazerac's best American and Canadian stocks and bottled the blend at the Old Montreal Distillery in Quebec at 122.6 proof. Tight allocation, each bottle paired with a miniature of Bronfman's From Little Acorns. Open it in cold weather.
Cigar box, pipe tobacco, and toffee lead, then dark cherry, raisin, and mince-pie fruit. The sip is high-octane but lush: chocolate-covered cherry, praline, and toasted marshmallow on a coating body. The finish is long — tobacco, baking spice, and dry, aged wood that still leaves sweetness in the glass.
