Basil Hayden Subtle Smoke is a Kentucky straight bourbon with an approachable balance of sweetness, spice, and gentle smoke. Sweet vanilla and butterscotch give the palate a rounded opening, while spicy rye adds a lively counterpoint without overwhelming the softer flavors.
The whiskey is matured in toasted, lightly charred secondary barrels treated with hickory smoke. Mellow smoke remains integrated with the bourbon’s sweeter side, and soft char brings a dry edge that keeps the finish from becoming too rich.
At 80 proof (40% ABV), the flavors remain easy to follow from the first sip through the finish. The combination of maple sweetness, rye spice, and subtle smoke works neatly on its own or over ice. It comes in a 750 mL size.
