Blood Oath Pact No. 11 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Kentucky bourbon, finished in añejo tequila barrels. That last stage is what sets this 2025 release apart from a straight bourbon left alone in oak, adding a faint sugarcane sweetness underneath the more familiar caramel and vanilla.
Black currant shows up early and stays, dark and a little tart against all that sweetness. The texture is fuller than the 98.6 proof might suggest, and black pepper and oak keep the finish from turning syrupy. It drinks well straight from the bottle, though a single cube opens up the fruit noticeably.
The 750 mL bottle handles the usual jobs without fuss. Neat after dinner, over ice on a warm evening, or in an old fashioned where the tequila-barrel sweetness does some of the work the sugar normally would. Nothing about it demands special treatment, which is part of the appeal.
