Clase Azul Reposado Tequila
Cooked agave leads, sweet and vegetal, with vanilla close behind it. Underneath sits hazelnut and caramel, soft enough that the tequila drinks smoothly at 80 proof (40% ABV) without turning syrupy. Cinnamon and clove arrive late and keep the sweetness in check.
This is Blue Weber agave from the Jalisco Highlands, rested eight months in American whiskey casks. That is a short stay by reposado standards, long enough to round the edges but not so long that the agave disappears under the wood. The result is a tequila that still tastes like agave first.
The 375 mL bottle is an easy size to keep on hand. It works neat in a small pour, and it has enough character to stand up in a cocktail where a blanco would get lost.
