Hampden Estate The 8 Marks Collection Jamaican Rum Tasting Set

This is unaged Jamaican rum in its loudest form. The set comes from Trelawny, where high-ester distillation gives rum a pungency you can smell across the room, and nothing here has been softened by time in wood or by anything added after the fact.

Tropical fruit hits immediately, ripe banana and pineapple sitting on top of a briny olive note that keeps things from turning sweet. Underneath runs that unmistakable solvent edge, sharp and clean, with spice pushing through as the esters build. At 120 proof (60% ABV) it is intense but honest, and a little goes a long way.

Each 750 mL bottle is additive free, which matters with rum this expressive: what you taste is what came off the still. Sipping side by side is the point, though a small measure also turns a daiquiri into something far more assertive than usual.
