Seven years in new charred Chinquapin oak, bottled at 105 proof. That extra bit of strength does real work here: the whiskey has weight on the tongue without turning hot, and it holds up fine over ice if that is how you drink bourbon.
Caramel and vanilla lead, sweet but not sticky, with dark fruit sitting underneath and giving the palate some depth. Baking spice picks up toward the back, and toasted oak trails off dry and clean. It is a straightforward Kentucky bourbon in the best sense, with enough going on to reward attention and enough backbone to disappear into a cocktail without getting lost.
