Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Specialty Barrel Series Chinquapin Oak Kentucky Straight Wheated Bourbon Whiskey 105 Proof is the allocated 2025 wheated bottling in the Specialty Barrel Series. Mash is 52 percent corn, 35 percent wheat, and 13 percent malted barley, from Beck's 6225 corn distilled at Bernheim in 2018, then aged seven years in Missouri Chinquapin oak — a full maturation in that wood, chosen for extra vanillin. Wheat keeps the middle round; the oak adds butterscotch, coffee, and cracked pepper on top of the berry fruit. Bottled at 105 proof without chill filtration. Save it for an after-dinner dram.
Cereal grain and spicy oak meet brown sugar, cinnamon, and berry turnover. Butterscotch, strawberry jam, and a touch of coffee fill the sip, then toasted oak and black pepper dry the close. The finish is medium-long, peppery and toasty, with jammy fruit still hanging on.
