Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Four years in ex-bourbon barrels have given this wheated Kentucky straight bourbon a soft, easygoing character. The barrel work shows in the rounder edges rather than heavy char, and nothing has been added to the whiskey after it left the wood.

Coconut leads, sweet and a little creamy, with vanilla sitting right alongside it. Underneath there's a bright citrus lift that keeps the sweetness from turning heavy, and a trace of light molasses and pepper on the way out. At 80 proof it drinks gently, without heat getting in the way of the flavor.

This is a straightforward everyday bourbon. It takes ice well, and it holds its shape in a highball or an Old Fashioned without needing much help. The 750 mL bottle is an easy one to keep on the shelf for pouring on a weeknight.
