Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Wheated Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the 2025 second edition: Beck's 6225 corn and a mash of 52 percent corn, 35 percent wheat, and 13 percent malted barley, distilled at Bernheim in 2018. Wheat is much higher here than in Heaven Hill's usual wheated recipe, which is why the six years in new #3-char oak at Cox's Creek read creamy and floral instead of rye-sharp. Bottled at barrel proof, 106.6, without chill filtration; the label names the seed, mashbill, and distillation year. Reach for it in an Old Fashioned on a weeknight.
Vanilla, caramelized sugar, and sweet oak open, with lavender and rose rounding a soft sip. Toasted nuts, leather, and coffee come through on the finish, with berry, coconut, white pepper, and cinnamon still hanging on. It drinks rich and a little spicy for a wheater, with a creamy middle and a dry, nutty close.
