Herradura Selección Suprema Extra Añejo Tequila
Herradura's extra añejo comes out of Amatitan, in the heart of Jalisco, where Blue Weber agave is cooked and then given more than four years in American white oak. Forty-nine months of that kind of patience shows up right away in the texture, which is soft and faintly sweet before any single note steps forward.
Cooked agave sits at the center, still recognizably tequila rather than something pretending to be brandy. Around it there is rose and bright citrus, then vanilla and dried fruit filling in as the sip settles. Cinnamon and polished oak close things out with a gentle warmth that lingers longer than you expect from 80 proof (40% ABV).
This is a sipping bottle. A small pour in a copita, no ice, is all it asks for, and the 750 mL bottle makes it an easy one to keep on the shelf for the evenings that deserve something better.
