Laphroaig Càirdeas Port & Madeira Cask Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Laphroaig's Càirdeas is an Islay single malt, and Islay is a name that tells you a lot before the cork comes out: whisky made at the edge of the sea, in a style that has never been shy. This release leans sweeter than you might expect. Orange citrus comes through clearly, bright and a little zesty, with vanilla sitting underneath it and a soft note of light sugarcane rounding things off.

At 60 proof (30% ABV), it drinks gently. There is no heat to work around and no need to cut it, which makes this an easy bottle to keep within reach rather than save for a particular evening. Neat in a small pour is plenty.
