Old Forester's Birthday Bourbon returns as a twelve-year Kentucky straight, aged in new charred American oak and bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV). It opens brighter than its age suggests: spiced banana and green apple up front, with apricot rounding the fruit into something softer and riper.
Underneath sits vanilla drawn from the char, and a thread of herbal tea that keeps the sweetness in check. The oak arrives late and dry, more structure than weight, and clove lingers on the tail with a touch of candied fruit behind it. At 46%, the texture stays supple rather than hot, and the fruit holds its shape without needing to be coaxed out.
Distilled in 2025 and released in a 750 mL bottle, this is an annual pour that never reaches every shelf. A single ice cube opens the orchard notes without flattening the spice.
