At 114.2 proof (57.1% ABV), Corryvreckan is bottled at cask strength, so its flavors come with substantial intensity and a firm presence.
Maturation in bourbon American oak and new French oak casks shapes the whisky before bottling. The higher strength makes a small pour go a long way, while a little dilution can soften the intensity if preferred. This is Scotch with plenty of weight, suited to slow sipping rather than quick drinking. The pour comes in a 750 mL size, and the lasting impression is savory smoky bacon set against the saltier Islay character.
