Baker’s 13 Year Old Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is Beam’s extra-aged Baker’s, named for Baker Beam and bottled one barrel at a time. The mash is 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley, aged at least 13 years in new charred American oak and bottled at 107 proof. Those extra years push the usual vanilla and toasted-nut character deeper and a little drier, and because each release is a limited single barrel, warehouse position is part of what you taste.
Toasted nuts, vanilla, caramel, baked apple, and oak are the flavors that keep showing up, with barrel char behind them and cinnamon or a touch of tobacco on some pours. Whisky Advocate’s 2023 bottle opened on peanut brittle, pecan pie, and brown-sugar apples. The body is medium. The finish is robust, warmly rounded, and medium-long.
