Blue Note Honey Rye Cask Whiskey
Blue Note Honey Rye Cask Whiskey is a limited straight rye whiskey from B.R. Distilling in Memphis. The mash is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, aged at least 3 years, then finished in American oak that held barrel-aged wildflower honey. The rye stays spicy, and the honey adds apricot, caramel, and a floral sweetness on top of the grain. Strength is set again with each release.
Blue Note tastes light apricot, vanilla, allspice, and oak, then caramel, with a soft finish of wildflower honey. Breaking Bourbon found clover honey, rye spice, and caramel on a buttery palate, and aged leather, toasted oak, and allspice in the finish. Whiskey Fellow added cinnamon, tobacco, and dark chocolate on a long, warm close.
