This is a warm, high-proof Speyside malt. This Cardhu single malt spent 16 years maturing in Jamaican rum casks, bringing an unusual cask choice to its regional identity. Bottled at cask strength, it carries 116 proof (58% ABV) with the full intensity of undiluted barrel proof.
Honey and tropical fruit give the whisky a generous opening, while vanilla rounds its sweeter side. Pepper and warm spice keep that sweetness from sitting alone, adding a firm, lively contrast. The combination makes for an expressive pour that can be enjoyed neat or over a large cube, depending on how much of its cask-strength force you want to retain.
