Cazcanes Rosa Reposado Tequila
Cazcanes Rosa is a reposado made from Blue Weber agave in Jalisco, rested three months and then given an 82-day finish in French oak barrels that previously held Cabernet Sauvignon. That second stay is what gives the tequila its blush color and its softer edges.
Cooked agave leads, sweet and vegetal the way good reposado should be, with cherry sitting right alongside it. Underneath there's toasted almond and vanilla, and the finish turns a little drier as red fruit and oak spice come through together. At 100 proof it has real weight on the tongue without any burn to speak of.
Additive free, so what you taste is agave and barrel and nothing else. It's an easy bottle to keep around: good enough to sip on its own, sturdy enough at this strength to stand up in a cocktail without disappearing. 750 mL.
