Blended Scotch rewards a blender's hand more than most whisky, and this quartet leans hard into that idea: mature malt and grain whiskies drawn from across Scotland, married from bourbon barrels and sherry-seasoned oak into a single 2023 release. Bottled at 100 proof, it has the weight to carry both the smoke and the sweetness without either winning outright.
Coastal smoke sets the tone, dry and saline rather than heavy. Underneath it, vanilla runs soft and wide, and grilled apple turns toward something more tropical the longer the whisky sits. Ginger cuts across all of it, warm and slightly peppery, keeping the fruit from going syrupy.
At 50% ABV the texture is generous, closer to oily than sharp, and a few drops of dilution open the orchard notes considerably. Bottles of this one do not stay on shelves long. Presented in a 750 mL bottle.
