Toffee opens the aroma, followed by raisin and baked apple, while polished oak gives the whisky a darker frame. Compass Box Ultramarine is a multi-region blended Scotch of limited availability, made from mature malt and grain whiskies. The blend draws on both refill and recharred oak casks, bringing two distinct cask treatments into its overall maturation.
Roasted pecan sits at the center of the palate, lending a deep, nutty character before peat smoke takes hold and stays present through the finish. At 102 proof (51% ABV), the whisky carries notable intensity and weight on the palate, in keeping with the richer notes in its profile. The 2022 release is presented in a 750 mL bottle.
