Eagle Rare 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is Buffalo Trace’s permanent 12-year companion to the 10-year, launched in June 2025 at 95 proof. It is the same Mash Bill #1, aged at least two years longer in monitored warehouses, with each barrel hand-selected. The extra time and five extra proof points push oak, almond, and toffee further forward without turning this into the 17-year Antique Collection whiskey. Worth keeping around for slow sips and simple cocktails.
Sweet oak and almond open, then vanilla, toasted oak, and a rush of brown sugar and caramel. Black cherry and orange peel sit under the sweetness. The finish is long and dry: toffee, leather, baking spice, and a light astringent oak that shows the extra years in wood.
