The Macallan Edition No. 3 Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the 2017 limited Speyside release built with master perfumer Roja Dove, who nosed casks so citrus, vanilla, florals, and fresh-cut oak would lift the heavier sherry base. The vatting includes first-fill Hudosa sherry butts, Tevasa European oak, and first-fill bourbon barrels and hogsheads, bottled at 96.6 proof (48.3% ABV). It is an after-dinner dram.
Vanilla ice cream, orange oil, and florals open, with fruit cake, apricot, and pear filling a sweet sip. Crisp green apple, ginger, and cinnamon stand out on the palate; the finish is long, sweet, and fruity.
