El Dorado’s high ester Demerara blend is a cask-strength rum from Guyana, distilled in 2014. It spent 10 years in tropical-aged bourbon barrels, bringing extended maturation and full bottling strength together in a 750 mL release.
Vivid tropical fruit meets caramel on the palate, while leather adds a darker, savory edge. Black pepper gives the finish a firm streak of spice. At 103.4 proof (51.7% ABV), this rum has the backbone for slow sipping, and a large cube can soften the strength while leaving its bolder flavors intact. The combination of ripe sweetness, earthy depth, and peppery structure makes it a distinctive pour without requiring ceremony.
