Four Branches Founders Blend Bourbon Whiskey is the veteran-owned Bardstown blend put together with Steve Nally at Bardstown Bourbon Company: Indiana rye bourbon and Kentucky wheat bourbon married into a four-grain mash of 65% corn, 15% rye, 10% wheat, and 10% malted barley. The wheat is the point — Nally added it so the sip would stay creamy instead of all rye heat, and so the bottle would actually use four grains. Components run about four to seven years. A bottle you can open for guests without overthinking the pour.
Vanilla bean, burnt orange peel, and caramel open, then hazelnut, creamy maple, and cinnamon-orange on a sweet mid-palate. White pepper and toasted oak dry the long, creamy vanilla finish.
