Bottled at cask strength, undiluted straight from the barrel, this Texas bourbon comes at you with full weight and no apology. New charred American oak did the shaping, and the Texas heat clearly pushed hard on the wood.
Dark fruit leads, thick and jammy, with caramel pooling underneath it. Cinnamon cuts through the sweetness, and behind that sits leather and tobacco over heavily seasoned oak that lingers well past the swallow. The texture is oily and coating rather than sharp, which is what full barrel proof tends to give you when the barrel has been worked this hard.
A splash opens up the fruit if the proof runs hot for you, though there is plenty to find neat. It comes in a 750 mL bottle.
