Four years in American oak, then two more in tawny Port casks. That second stretch is what sets this Texas Hill Country bourbon apart from the standard barrel-to-bottle path, and it shows up in both color and depth.
Raspberry and caramel sit together on the palate, the fruit bright against a heavier sweetness that keeps it from turning thin. Cinnamon runs through the middle with a warmth that suits the 107 proof, and the finish leans dark, with chocolate and toasted oak lingering longer than the fruit does. There's vanilla underneath the whole thing, soft and steady.
Six years is the youngest whiskey here, and it drinks with more weight than the age might suggest — Texas heat does its work quickly. A big cube opens it up without flattening the Port influence. The 750 mL bottle is an easy one to keep on the shelf rather than save for a special night.
