Garrison Brothers Lady Bird Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey
At 114 proof (57% ABV), this Texas bourbon comes on warm and thick rather than hot. Wildflower honey leads, dense and floral, and cocoa sits underneath it with just enough bitterness to keep the sweetness in check. Cherry and fig follow, dark and jammy, before vanilla settles the whole thing down.
The bourbon is given a honey infusion and then finished in French Cognac XO casks, which lend the whiskey a rounded, orchard-fruit weight and a long, gently spiced close. Baking spice flickers at the edges. Caramel carries through the back end without turning syrupy.
This is a big pour that still drinks easily, which makes it a good bottle to keep within reach rather than save for an occasion. A single large cube opens the honey and fruit without flattening the proof. The 750 mL bottle pours generously.
