Glenmorangie Spìos Private Edition No. 9 Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Solera aging sets this Highland single malt apart. The system works by refilling rather than emptying, so younger spirit is continually married with older, and the result is a whisky with a consistent, rounded character rather than a sharp edge anywhere.

Dark chocolate and dried fruit sit together at the center of it, more raisin and fig than fresh orchard fruit. Vanilla softens things underneath, and a touch of cinnamon keeps the sweetness in check. Toward the end, leather and toasted oak give it a drier, slightly savory turn that keeps you coming back to the glass.

At 80 proof (40% ABV), it drinks easily and does not need much help. This is a straightforward pour after dinner, neat or over a single cube, and it works just as well in a highball if that is how you take Scotch. Comes in a 750 mL bottle.
