Hibiki 17 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky has quiet depth. Peach gives the opening a ripe, rounded quality, with honey settling underneath rather than pushing the fruit aside. Raisin darkens the sweetness and keeps it from feeling simple. Sandalwood and Mizunara incense shape a fragrant, wood-toned close that lingers beyond the sweeter notes.
As a blended Japanese whisky, it brings together whiskies from multiple regions of Japan rather than expressing a single place. The youngest whisky included is 17 years old. Across the blend, maturation took place in American oak, sherry and Mizunara oak casks.
