Highland Park Full Volume 17 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a 2017 limited vatting of spirit distilled in 1999 and matured entirely in first-fill bourbon barrels and hogsheads — 481 casks, bottled at 94.4 proof with natural pale color. Vanilla, coconut, and citrus come forward because the wood is all bourbon; heathered peat stays in the midtones. Pour it on a weeknight when you want citrus and vanilla turned up.
Creamy vanilla and lemon peel lead, with mango, pineapple, coconut, and a hint of sea salt. The mouthfeel is warm and generous; pepper and light smoke rise on a medium-long, slightly drying finish. It drinks bright and easy for the age, with the peat arriving last.
