Hibiki 17 Year Old Blended Japanese Whisky is Suntory's age-stated blend from Yamazaki and Hakushu malts with Chita grain, every component matured at least seventeen years in American oak, sherry, and Mizunara casks, and bottled at 86 proof. Suntory suspended the 17-year from its core range in 2018 when aged stock ran short, so bottles on the shelf are remaining inventory of that blend. The 24-facet bottle still marks the Japanese seasons. This is an after-dinner dram.
Peach and apricot open on a silky sip, then toffee, black cherry, and vanilla. Mizunara sandalwood holds the middle, and the finish stays sweet and floral with a clear lychee note.
