Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Rye Whiskey

Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Rye Whiskey is Lynchburg’s first new grain bill in a century and a half: 70 percent rye, 18 percent corn, and 12 percent malted barley, cave-spring water, the house yeast, and the same ten-foot charcoal mellowing, then one new charred American oak barrel from the upper warehouse floors. Bottled at 94 proof (47% ABV) as a regular Single Barrel Collection rye. It is a weeknight pour that still has enough spice for an Old Fashioned.

Dried fruit, caramel, and banana meet light toasted oak and a clean rye spice. Vanilla and cinnamon round a buttery sip; the finish is medium, spicy, and a little dry, more grain than heavy wood.
