Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea Double Barrel Rye Whiskey Voyage 26 is the first rye to take the Ocean trip: mature rye re-barreled in new #3 char and toasted oak, then aged at sea from Savannah through the canal and the Pacific. Motion caramelizes the wood sugars; salt air leaves a briny edge. Bottled at 96 proof without chill-filtration, it drinks sweeter and darker than a landlocked spicy rye. It has the backbone for a Manhattan.
Toasted marshmallow, maple syrup, and rye spice open the glass. Toffee, vanilla, and a hint of tobacco fill a creamy sip, with salted caramel riding through the mid-palate. Baking spice, cinnamon, and sea salt close long and warming.
