Blended from malt and grain whiskies drawn across Scotland's whisky regions, this is Johnnie Walker at its most polished. The 2024 Year of the Dragon release arrives in a bottle designed by artist James Jean, but the liquid inside is the familiar Blue Label character: silky, wide, and warm rather than sharp.
Honey leads, thick and floral, with dried fruit sitting just beneath it. Cacao and hazelnut give the mid-palate a soft, nutty weight, and bright orange lifts the whole thing before a gentle wisp of smoke settles in at the close. Oak maturation shows in the texture more than in any single note, rounding the edges of every flavor it touches.
At 80 proof (40% ABV), it drinks easily neat and holds its shape over a single large cube. A 750 mL bottle that looks as good on the shelf as it pours.
