Kentucky Peerless Double Oak Straight Rye Whiskey is the distillery's rye whiskey put through two new oak casks: first a Kelvin char-3 barrel, then dumped and re-barreled by hand for a full second extraction. Distilled on Louisville's 10th Street from a sweet mash — fresh grain and water every batch — never sourced, never chill-filtered, and bottled at barrel proof (this UPC sits at 109.5). The extra wood thickens molasses and smoke around the grain. Give it a large cube and let the second barrel open.
Seasoned oak and orange zest meet warm molasses and earthy cinnamon, then florals and smoked herbs. Dark chocolate and leather show as it sits. The texture is oily and full; the finish turns to candied smoke, with rye spice lingering rather than burning.
