Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11 Year Old Charred Oak Cask Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky

This is a softer, sweeter side of Islay single malt. The name carries an 11 year old charred oak cask designation, and the whisky drinks with the kind of bright fruit that charred oak tends to draw forward rather than the heavy smoke many people expect from the island.

Pineapple leads, more ripe than tart, with citrus running alongside it. Underneath sits vanilla and a light sugarcane sweetness that keeps the whole thing easy and rounded. At 60 proof (30% ABV) it is gentle on the palate, with a lighter body than most Scotch of this style, so nothing needs opening up or diluting.

Straightforward enough for a weeknight dram and mild enough to sip slowly. The 750 mL bottle is the standard pour size for a home shelf.
