This Islay single malt Scotch takes a two-stage approach to maturation: first in ex-Bourbon barrels, then in American oak quarter casks. That second stage distinguishes this Quarter Cask expression. Bottled at 96 proof (48% ABV), it has enough strength to carry its peat-led flavors clearly from the first sip through the finish.
Smouldering peat and smoke set a robust foundation, while coconut brings a rounded tropical note. Vanilla softens the palate, providing an approachable counterpoint to the whisky’s more intense side. The result is direct and easy to follow, with sweetness beside the smoke rather than hidden beneath it. This 750 mL Scotch can be poured neat, while a large cube will gradually soften its stronger edges.
