Little Book Chapter 5 The Invitation Blended Whiskey
New charred American oak does the heavy lifting here, and Kentucky's swings in temperature push the whiskey deep into the wood grain. This is a blend bottled at cask strength, undiluted straight from the barrel, so nothing has been softened on the way out.
Caramel comes through thick and warm, with baked apple and cherry brightening the edges before the sweetness settles. Underneath sits chocolate, and the seasoned oak turns dry and a little spicy on the close. At 116.8 proof (58.4% ABV) the texture is full and coating, the kind of whiskey that stays with you long after the sip.
The 2021 release, in a 750 mL bottle. A few drops of water will open the vanilla without flattening the oak, though there is plenty to enjoy without touching it. This is a bottle worth keeping within reach rather than saving for an occasion that may never come.
