Little Book Chapter 8 Path Not Taken Blended Straight Whiskey
This is a big, warm Kentucky whiskey that doesn't hide its strength. Bottled uncut at 118.2 proof, the 2024 release of Little Book Chapter 8 blends straight whiskeys matured in new charred American oak, and the char shows in the depth of color and the weight on the tongue.
Brown sugar leads, dark and slightly wet, with caramel pooling underneath it. Dark fruit follows, more stewed plum than fresh berry, and then rye spice cuts through the sweetness before it turns heavy. The finish is long and dry, leaning on leather and toasted oak.
At cask strength, this one takes a few drops of dilution well, though it holds together neat if you prefer the full force of it. Poured over a single large cube, the sweeter notes come forward and the spice settles back. A 750 mL bottle that earns a permanent spot on the shelf rather than a special occasion.
