Longrow Peated Cask Strength Campbeltown Single Malt Scotch Whisky is Springbank Distillery's heavily peated, double-distilled Campbeltown malt, bottled uncut at 114 proof in a 700 mL Batch 2. Malt dried over a peat fire for about two days and a heavier spirit cut leave an oily, phenolic whisky; bourbon and wine casks add vanilla and a little red fruit under the smoke. Non-chill filtered. Pour it in cold weather.
Earthy peat and coastal smoke open first, then lemon zest, vanilla, and salted caramel. The body is oily and full. Dark berry and black pepper stand out on the palate, and the finish runs long on sea salt and kiln smoke.
