Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2024 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky

Orange peel comes through first, bright and a little zesty, with dried apricot sitting just behind it. Underneath that is molasses, dark and sweet without turning heavy, and vanilla rounds the whole thing out. Baking spice shows up late, warm rather than sharp, and lingers after the sweetness fades.

This is Maker's Mark Cellar Aged 2024, a Kentucky straight bourbon whisky bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). At that strength the whisky drinks easy and open, with the fruit and sugar notes reading clearly instead of hiding behind heat. It is the kind of bourbon that works as well over ice on a warm evening as it does in an old fashioned, where the orange and vanilla have something to grab onto.
