Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series 2021 Limited Release FAE-02 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the fall 2021 limited Wood Finishing Series from Loretto, Kentucky. Fully matured cask-strength Maker’s is finished in the limestone cellar with ten double-heat-treated virgin French oak staves—infrared, then a flame toast—so the fatty acid esters from unfiltered whisky show as a luscious, coating texture. Bottled at 109.1 proof (54.55% ABV). A slow sip on a fall evening when caramel and French oak should coat the glass.
Banana bread and burnt caramel lead, with root beer candy, light caramel, and dark cherry standing out on the palate. The mouthfeel is velvety and coating; clove, orange peel, and a long, warming French-oak finish linger.
