Midleton Very Rare 2021 Vintage Release Irish Whiskey is Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman’s first annual signature from Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Ireland: a limited blend of single pot still and single grain whiskey aged 15 to 36 years in lightly charred ex-bourbon American oak, with more grain and a mix of first- and second-fill casks. Bottled at 80 proof, it drinks floral and fine rather than heavy. Pour it on a quiet evening.
Floral perfume opens onto baked orchard fruit, lime zest, and kiwi. Soft waves of vanilla, coffee, and honeycomb round a creamy mouthfeel, with mild pot-still spice and nutmeg through the close. The finish lingers on fruit and oak without heat.
