Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut Champagne
Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut is the house's everyday Champagne, a brut blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay from the Champagne region. Time on the lees in bottle gives it a soft, bready weight underneath the fruit, which keeps it easy to drink without being simple.
Green apple and pear lead, bright and clean, with citrus running through them. Brioche sits below all of that, joined by toasted nuts and a chalky mineral edge on the finish. At 12% ABV the wine stays light on its feet, dry rather than sharp, and the bubbles are fine enough to carry the fruit rather than scrub it away.
This is the 1.5 L magnum, which is worth reaching for when there are more than a few people around. Serve it well chilled and let it warm slightly in the glass, where the toasty side comes forward.
