Nikka Miyagikyo Single Malt Japanese Whisky is the standing single malt from Nikka's Sendai distillery in the Miyagi valley, distilled from malted barley in steam-heated pot stills with upward lyne arms. Those stills keep the spirit floral and fruity; a heavy share of ex-sherry casks, with American oak beside them, adds dried fruit and spice. It is bottled at 90 proof. Pour it when you are sipping with friends.
Pear, peach, and honey lead, with citrus zest, almond, and a little cinnamon. The body is soft and medium. Dried fruit, vanilla, and a trace of gentle smoke linger on a long, quiet finish.
