O.K.I. Reserve Batch 1 Blended Bourbon Whiskey is a limited 2022 blend from MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana: five mashbills—bourbon, rye whiskey, corn whiskey, and light whiskey—with 99 percent of the liquid aged more than eight years, then double-barreled and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) in Kentucky. That second barreling is why vanilla custard and caramel feel dense and chewy. Pour it in a spirit-forward cocktail.
Vanilla custard, caramel, and honey open over white pepper and dried citrus. The mouthfeel is viscous—semisweet chocolate, leather, and lemon oil ride the sip—then baking spice, panela sugar, and a long, minty close.
