Eleven years is a long stretch for a wheated bourbon, and this one wears the time well. New charred American oak has pulled the whiskey toward honey and butterscotch, sweet without being heavy, and there is a soft orchard character underneath — plum and peach that turn richer as the pour opens up.
Bottled in bond at 100 proof, it carries real weight on the tongue without heat that gets in the way. Fig and milk chocolate settle into the finish, darker and rounder than the opening suggests, and they hang on comfortably. The char shows as toast rather than bite.
This is Kentucky bourbon with an age statement and enough proof to stand up in a cocktail, though most nights it will not need one. A 750 mL bottle that drinks like an occasion and holds up as a regular.
