Old Overholt 11 Year Old Cask Strength Rye Whiskey is Beam’s 2024 limited extra-aged rye: distilled in autumn 2012, eleven years in four Clermont warehouses, unfiltered, and bottled at 107.4 proof (53.7% ABV). Cooler warehouse floors kept the proof modest, so vanilla and caramel have room beside the rye spice. Pour it over a large cube.
Vanilla and caramel open first, then allspice and cherry. Tobacco and charred oak stand out on the palate; the mouthfeel is creamy for the strength, and the finish lingers on rye spice and brown sugar.
