Orphan Barrel Forager’s Keep 26 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Scotland's single malt tradition rewards patience, and twenty-six years is a long time to wait. This whisky spent all of it in oak, and the wood has done its slow work without stripping the malt of its character. Orchard fruit still comes through clearly, ripe and soft rather than sharp.
Toffee sits underneath, thick and sweet, with vanilla threading between the two. There is a quiet heather note that keeps the sweetness from settling too heavily, and mature oak runs beneath everything, dry and grainy where the malt turns cereal-rich. At 96 proof (48% ABV), the texture stays generous without heat.
Bottles of this age are scarce by nature, and few of them reach the shelf. Best taken neat, in a 750 mL bottle worth returning to over several evenings rather than one.
